Ember resists the idea that "girly-girls" can't be smart or serious. She identifies as both a feminist and an ecologist, and can frequently be found on weekends wading in local creeks to study tadpoles whilst wearing a skirt. Ember is fond of animals; she has a cat, fish, and loves horses. Her favourite colour is pink, her favourite holiday is Beltane and her favourite scientist is Ellen Swallow Richards. Her pet peeves are littering, second-hand smoke, and gender stereotypes.

Ember is a customised doll: originally a Josefina, her wig was replaced with a Monique Liza wig in dark brown, her face freckled, and her brown eyes swapped for 'amber'.
